  1. False.  Eating feces is a usually a sign of boredom, not nutritional deficiencies.
  2. False.  Corn and other grains are high in energy, but "cool" in heat production.
  3. False.  A horse with a normal, healthy set of teeth is able to chew and digest whole corn and oats.
  4. False.  Work increases the ENERGY requirement but not the PROTEIN requirement.

Hooved Animal Rescue of Thurston County was founded in November 1998, by a handful of concerned friends wishing to connect hooved animals in need with people that can help.  We are a non-profit organization, offering a foster home network for the rehabilitation and care of hooved animals that have been impounded by local law enforcement in abuse and neglect cases.

If you suspect abuse or neglect of horses, cows, goats, sheep, llamas or pigs residing in Thurston County, contact the Thurston County Sheriff's Office at (360) 704-2740.  They will need a detailed description of the situation you are concerned about and the address where the problem is occurring.
